Default avatar issue with Wifi Diva addon on OpenSim grid

George Anastassakis
Hi all,

I have trouble making default avatar appearances work with Wifi on
OpenSim 0.8.2.1 in grid mode (after having installed Wifi as a mono
addin and with everything else working properly). In particular, suppose
there is a Male Avatar account with
shape/skin/hair/eyes/pants/shirt/shoes worn. When a new male user is
created via Wifi no errors are reported on the Robust console (male-type
account Male Avatar found, etc.) but the new user's inventory is empty
appearance-wise except for a (empty) "Default Avatar Male" folder under
"Clothing". I am using Singularity 1.8.7 (if it makes any difference).

(Apologies if this is not the right place to ask this.)

Thanks,

G

George, you may find the avatar clothing is actually there but in
different directories.  Under body parts was it... and as I recall
some was even in the lost and found folder.

WiFi does work under 0.9.0 dev (in preparation for release) and 0.9.1
dev (current dev master) correctly creating a single folder under
Clothing with all the selected content. Note that Wifi needs a couple
of lines changing in one file
(addon-modules/21WiFi/Service.NewAccount.cs due to a change in
m_InventoryService.GetItem to add a parameter) to work post 0.8.2.*
pending the release by Diva of WiFi when 0.9.0 comes out.

No "Outfit" or current outfit is created though still, so you still
get a pop up message to that effect. But you can save the outfit you
selected for your avatar in WiFi

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case. Body parts is empty as
is Lost and Found. In fact, like I said, the inventory is completely
empty except for calling card stuff and a Default Avatar Male folder
under Clothing. Nothing else.

That's great to hear!

I see. I might try that out.

That wouldn't be much of a problem if enough items for a valid
appearance were there, even if not automatically worn.

Thanks again, this was very helpful.

Best,

G

Re: Default avatar issue with Wifi Diva addon on OpenSim grid

George Anastassakis
It appears that the problem is not wifi (v. 0.8.2.1.13 on opensim v.
0.8.2.1), which correctly copies all wearables on the default avatar
over to the new account IF it can find them: It seems that Singularity
(v. 1.8.7) is messing appearances up, for some reason. As far as I could
tell by toying with some custom wifi code (and if I am not seriously
mistaken), when the appearance of a default wifi avatar is created with
Singularity, wifi is unable to enumerate any wearables on that avatar
when a new user account of the corresponding type is created afterwards,
so it naturally copies nothing. If default avatar appearances are
instead created with Alchemy (v. 4.0.0) all body parts and clothing seem
to be properly copied over to new accounts.

Thanks all for the help (and apologies for the false alarm).

G
