Help updating OpenSIM

Dayna Bedrosian
We're trying to upgrade our grid, but we are having problems.  We have a set of custom scripting functions for our grid.  We were able to get all the code that was written for them. Now we are trying to update, but are not sure what files in the source need to be edited?  Also what do we need to include and what suggestions you all might have regarding errors that might occur?  I'll appreciate any help.

Hello
Your question is too vague.
There are maybe 2 solutions for that :
1/ publish the code as opensource and try to find people to edit it
2/ contact a company to estimate the cost

Every set of scripts is going to have it's own unique personality. Without knowing things like what version of the grid you're running, what scripts you're running and their associated versions, its impossible for anyone to evenknow what kind of help you're asking for. I recommend modding the scripts to conform to the new version of OS, but help with that would be found on forums dedicated to that scriptset or some other general coding help forum.

We have custom scripting functions that we are trying to compile into the scripting engine and we aren't sure how to compile it into the current scripting engine?

If you mean adding OSSL scripting functions, this website, third section, might help you:

http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OSSL

According to the wiki OS supports three (or more) different 'scripting' languages. There are multiple ways to skin this cat.

Re: Help updating OpenSIM

Mister Blue
If you are trying to add OSSL functions, besides the page mentioned by Storm Stinger, within the OpenSimulator sources there are examples of code that adds new functions to the LSL language. Check out the file "ExtendedPhysics.cs" which demonstrates how to easily define constants and functions for the scripts in that region.
