Re: Opensim-users Digest, Vol 25, Issue 41

DZ-2
Thanks for the back-tracking Robert...

As for the increased stability obtained by removing physical movement.  I don't think removing functionality from the only "capable" physics engine is a good plan.   A significant amount of the content that I am interested in requires that basic ODE functions are available,  and not crippled for periods which apparently extend across 2 point revs...   Now that ODE is the default physics engine,  I hope whoever decided to "fix it" can revisit this issue...  It seems like a very poor plan to impress new users by handing them an intentionally crippled default.

Might be worth noting that some time around then, general stability
relating to physics crashes also improved markedly - so could be that
whatever changed improved things for stability, but evidently caused
issues elsewhere. I for one don't want those frequent ODE crashes coming
back to haunt us.

I tested this with versions from 0.6.2 all the way up to the current
release
and the problem occurs at 0.6.5(interface version 4). I will also post
this
in the mantis.
