[opensim-users] Couple of Easy Questions(?)

scotto

I’d like to make my sim available to the outside world and accessible to naïve users.  Here’s what I want to do:

1)      Package a browser (e.g., Imprudence) with my SIM already in the Grid Manager list.

2)      Allow anyone to open an account via the web.

My work is in conversational agent in 3D worlds, but I’m not an expert (by any stretch) on making OpenSIM do what I want it to.  Any suggestions?

Best regards,

Scotto…

I know I've seen a neat little tool that lets you add your grid as the default destination for Imprudence and then package it up as a download for your users, but I'll be darned if I can find the link.  Anyone know what I'm talking about?

As for making an account on the web, are you running in grid mode or standalone mode?  For grid mode, I am a huge fan of Diva's Wifi tool, which is a web interface for users to create accounts and you to manage them.  See  http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Wifi for more info.

Ah, nope, I tweeted the same question and Peter Miller replied with this link:   http://virrea.fr/en/online-3d-client-customizer  That's the one I was thinking of - thanks Peter!

Oh yeah! :-) Took looking at it to remember it too. I'd checked it out before, but since I have no use for it, I never thought of it again :-)

Wow, how cool is this tool?!  Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.  I'm running in standalone mode, but could "move up" to grid mode without a problem (I think).  BTW, I'm trying to start a similar center as yours here in Astana.  Collaboration?

Best regards,

and in the "I don't just want a Pony i want a Unicorn!!" mode it would
be nifty if the viewer was a portable app (saves settings inside the
